What happens when utopias are turned into reality? Which remnants of a passing order are suitable as material? Which idea, which matrix ensures cohesion? SKILLS examines these questions through a dense series of scenic experiments. The two performers settle in the emptiness of the stage. They seem to be following a precise plan: In an atmosphere of preparation, building up and rising tension a process of growth and transformation emerges, a dance of things.
SKILLS pushes boundaries: between music and noise, between body and utopia, between experiment and discipline. The industrial music of the 1980s, Adorno and the prevailing zeitgeist intertwine in objects, bodies and sounds to form a landscape.
In DER AUFBAU, the performance duo SKILLS uses everyday objects and movement to produce music. In doing so, they have succeeded in creating a clever extension of the male tinkerer’s gesture and an original interlocking of dance performance and concert. An interesting evening about utopia – between the artistic avant-garde of the 1920s, industrial noise and an exuberant battle of materials.’ – Tsomou, Margarita MIZZY MAGAZINE Die Unmöglichkeit der Utopie (28 January 2013)
Fehér and Kretzschmar work with full physical commitment like two berserkers who play themselves into ecstasy and exhaustion in a quarry of electronic music and props thrown back and forth. – Peter Sauer WESTFÄLISCHE NACHRICHTEN SKILLS zeigen DER AUFBAU (14 April 2013)
