Concerts are work. The duo SKILLS works enthusiastically for SPLITTER ORCHESTER. SPLITTER ORCHESTER works enthusiastically for SKILLS. The result is phantom power for a special place: in the concrete hall of silent green (Berlin), a musicmachine is kept in motion by the collective spirit of enthusiasm.
In the past, a robot on rails travelled through the same room: through a kind of library of dead bodies. It sorted and moved the archived dead between the forensic medicine department, the funeral parlour and the crematorium. Here, the orchestra transforms itself into a factory that produces nothing but music. The place invites reflection. What are we actually doing? What are we actually doing in our lives? What are we doing? SKILLS and SPLITTER ORCHESTER cocreate a performative concert about the role of work in our lives, about enthusiasm, being driven and busy, about Fordist remnants in our minds and bodies, about routine and efficiency.
